Saving & Managing Territories
Learn how to save, edit, and organize your territories.
Once you've created territories, you'll want to manage them effectively. This guide covers saving, editing, organizing, and deleting territories.
Saving a New Territory
After defining your territory boundaries:
Required Information
- Name — A descriptive name (1-100 characters)
- Examples: "Midwest Region", "Ohio Manufacturing", "Chicago Metro 50mi"
Optional Information
- Description — Additional context (up to 500 characters)
- Use for notes about the territory's purpose or boundaries
- Set as Default — Toggle to make this your default search territory
Save
Click Save Territory to create it. You'll be redirected to the My Territories tab.
Viewing Your Territories
The My Territories tab shows all your saved territories as cards.
Each card displays:
- Territory name
- Description (if any)
- Creation date
- Default indicator (star icon)
- Action buttons
Viewing on Map
Click any territory card to see its boundaries highlighted on the map. The map automatically zooms to show the full territory.

- The Create tab loads with the territory's current settings

Click the star icon on the current default territory to unset it. You can have no default if preferred.
Deleting Territories
To delete a territory:
- Find the territory in the My Territories list
- Click the Delete button (trash icon)
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog
Warning
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- If you delete your default territory, no territory will be default
- Consider renaming instead of deleting if you might need it later
Best Practices
Naming Conventions
Use clear, consistent naming:
- Geographic: "Ohio", "Midwest", "East Coast"
- Descriptive: "Chemical Manufacturing Zone", "Priority Accounts"
- Combined: "Ohio - Priority Accounts"
Use Descriptions
Add context to descriptions:
- Why this territory exists
- Who it's assigned to (for teams)
- When it was last updated
Review Regularly
Periodically review your territories:
- Are boundaries still accurate?
- Are all territories still needed?
- Should any be combined or split?
One Default
Only one territory can be default. Choose the one you use most frequently for searches.
Troubleshooting
Can't Save Territory
- Check that you have a name (required)
- Ensure boundaries are valid (no self-intersecting polygons)
- Verify you're under the 25 territory limit
Territory Not Appearing in Search
- Make sure the territory was saved successfully
- Refresh the page if you just created it
- Check if Territory filter is selected (not States)
Wrong Facilities Showing
- Verify the territory boundaries are correct
- Remember that facilities are matched by their geographic coordinates
- Check if the Exclude List is hiding some facilities
